1987
Bill Brodeur founded Diversified Contractors, Inc in Grand Forks, ND in 1987 with nothing more than $1340 in the bank, a Chevy S-10 pickup with a loan on it, and a used skill-saw.  Working 7 days and 80+ hours a week, Bill was able to grow the company at a rapid pace. Within the first year, Diversified Contractors welcomed Mark Hart to the team, who brought with him the supervisor onsite technical skills crucial to the growth of DC.
1994
By 1994, we grew to an office staff of 6. At this time, one of our largest clients presented Bill with an opportunity in Fargo that would be the catalyst to eventually open up a second location. Bill managed a large number of projects for this client while Mark continued supervising the work in Grand Forks.
1996
In 1996 Bill officially opened the Fargo office and Diversified Contractors Fargo was born. The first year in Fargo, DC experienced rapid growth, and Bill’s connections from his previous two years with his Fargo client helped him open many doors and grow quickly.

With the flood of ’97 came a flood of work. DC growth exploded to a President, 3 project managers, 7 project supervisors, an accountant, an office assistant, a concrete division, and 50 carpenters and laborers. During this time DC was involved in a very wide range of projects including: new homes, residential remodeling, commercial remodeling, new agricultural buildings, a riding arena and 5000 sow – farrow to wean hog facility, new apartment buildings, apartment remodeling, institutional build and remodel work, and commercial building tenant fit-up in 7 states.

By 2001 Bill refocused on what DC did best, and found the right size and the best people. From 2001 to 2008 DC focused 100% on light commercial buildings and commercial remodeling. Bill Brodeur did all project management and Gini Aanenson ran the office and assisted Bill.  DC became the premier light commercial and commercial remodeler in the Fargo and Grand Forks areas.

In 2009 a refocus on sustainable growth began. We are proud of our growth of over 400% in the last 10 years.  At the beginning of 2016 we moved into our current location that has enough space to expand for future office staff. We have grown in our traditional operations and also expanded our drywall work to include subcontracting and prime 9A projects. In 2019 we completed Bill’s succession plan. Bill will mentor his new business partners Jesse Morrow and Nicki Johnson to provide a seamless transition allowing Diversified Contractors to continue its dedication to its clients and community presence.

2008Today DC operates under a clear set of business processes and procedures. We have put systems in place to efficiently and effectively operate all areas of our business. Through teamwork and a strict set of guidelines our project managers are able to consistently deliver successful results.  DC will continue to grow and is always striving to provide a great place to work for our team and greater building experiences for our clients.
